258. Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if he will direct the Eastern Health Board to carry out an assessment of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who is one of three children who was allegedly sexually abused over a prolonged period; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Health (Mr. Howlin): The provision of assessment services in individual cases is a matter for the relevant board. I have accordingly asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to urgently examine the case in question and to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to it as quickly as possible.
