56. Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if there is provision in his Structural Funds allocation for the granting of financial aid to tourist projects.

Minister for Tourism and Trade (Mr. McCreevy): I am not yet in a position to give details of the various types of measures which will be eligible for assistance under the next operational programme for tourism. It is, however, my intention that the final agreed programme will be flexible enough to encourage the development of tourism projects, which will help to attract more [1558] visitors to Ireland and create additional jobs.
