Minister for Finance (Mr. B. Ahern) Bertie Ahern
Minister for Finance (Mr. B. Ahern): All sections of the Paymaster General's Office are computerised to enable them to carry out their functions in an efficient and cost effective manner. The PMG acts as a paying agent for the Department of Education in relation to the payment of pensions to approximately 9,000 retired teachers, including dependants. It uses the same computer system to effect payment as is used extensively for salary payments throughout the Civil Service.
