Written Answers. - County Wicklow Business Restrictions.

[1932] 139. Ms. McManus asked the Minister for Health if, in view of the serious situation that has arisen for a company (details supplied) in County Wicklow, in relation to the future of eight jobs which are dependent on the bakery/restaurant business, he will ensure that these jobs can be maintained and that restrictions be lifted on the operation of this business.

Minister for Health (Mr. Brendan Howlin): An application for registration under the Food Hygiene Regulations 1950-89 was made in May 1992 to the Eastern Health Board in respect of the premises in question. Following a period of a year's provisional registration, the Eastern Health Board refused outright registration giving nine grounds for so doing.

That decision is now under formal appeal to me as Minister for Health.
