67. Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice her views on whether the Garda authorities should record appropriate statistics of all violence against women which is brought to their attention; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Justice (Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn): The compilation of crime statistics is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the manner in which crime statistics are compiled is kept under constant review and changes and improvements are made as and when considered appropriate.
