148. Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment if it is intended to [1140] finance the proposed dump at Kill, County Kildare out of structural, cohesion or departmental funds.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Browne, Wexford): The development and financing of waste disposal operations has been a matter for the local authorities concerned. However, application has been made to the EC Commission for Cohesion Fund assistance to the local authorities concerned for two solid waste disposal projects in 1993. Decisions have not been taken regarding post 1993 submissions for Structural or Cohesion Fund assistance.
