141. Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Justice when a gun licence will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who has established a permanent home there.

Minister for Justice (Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn): Under the Firearms Acts, 1925 to 1990 the power to grant or refuse to [254] grant a firearm certificate to any person resident in the State is vested in the local supterintendent of the Garda district where the person resides. I have been informed by the Garda authorities that a firearm certificate issued to the applicant on 30 April 1993.
