92. Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance the Government's policy in relation to the future of the ACC Bank.

Minister for Finance (Mr. B. Ahern): The Government's proposals in relation to ACC Bank and its role in a future third force in banking are set out in the Programme for a Partnership Government 1993-1997. There have been preliminary contacts in the matter with ACC Bank and ICC Bank. A timetable for the development of the third banking force has not yet been set.

The Deputy will have to appreciate that the in-depth analyses are only at the initial stages and that this is clearly a matter that cannot be rushed and considerable time will be needed to examine all the implications.
