74. Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will give details of the way in which money will be spent by his Department under Vote 40, subhead A.8 in the Estimates for the Public Service 1993.

Minister for Social Welfare (Dr. Woods): Subhead A8 of Vote 40 provides for payments for agency services. The 1993 Estimate comprises (a) £18,413,000 for the encashment by An Post of social assistance pensions and allowances (b) £1,430,000 for the production of pension, allowance and child benefit order books, and (c) £1,880,000 for payments to certifiers for medical certificates issued, free of charge, to insured persons under Section 127 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981.
