Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education the way in which the assessment of the numbers in need of remedial education has been made by her Department. Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach) Niamh Bhreathnach Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): The level of remedial need in schools is identified on the basis of data and information collected from schools by my Department's Inspectorate and/or Psychological Service. 1183 Available remedial teaching posts are [1183] then allocated on the basis of priority of need, as indicated by the information collected.
