[1007] 20. Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has for urban renewal in 1993; if urban renewal schemes will be disbursed fairly throughout the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Stagg): The present urban renewal programme, under which a range of tax incentives is available for development projects, operates in 23 urban centres throughout the country. The programme is due to expire on 31 May, 1994 and there are no firm proposals at present for its extension. I am, however, keeping the matter under review.
