Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if, in view of the European Commission's Fourth Annual Report on the state of Europe's forests which shows that one-fifth of all trees are affected by environmental pollution, a survey has been carried out in this country on the effect of the environment on our tree population; and if so, the results of that survey.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. J. Walsh): The Forest Service [1010] has participated in EC forest health surveys under the Community scheme for the protection of forests against atmospheric pollution. No evidence of air pollution damage has been found.
