331. Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the steps his Department proposes to take to alleviate the flooding at Mountmellick, County Laois, with particular reference to funding in respect of stage 3 of the sewerage treatment works.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Smith): The preliminary report for stage 3 of the Mountmellick sewerage scheme has been approved. It is now a matter for Laois County Council to prepare contract documents. The question of funding does not arise at this stage.
