Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education if he has received a proposal from the County Meath vocational education committee (details supplied) in connection with the fact that they are willing, in principle, to authorise provision of accommodation in a low-cost building; if moneys will be provided in the 1993 Estimates as this extra space is required for the 1993 year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Brennan): My Department have recently received an outline sketch scheme from County Meath vocational education committee for the provision of an agreed schedule of additional accommodation at this school. Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the serious problem in St. Oliver's Post-Primary School, Oldcastle, County Meath due to the failure to appoint a guidance teacher; his views on this matter; if he intends approving the appointment of even a part-time teacher; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Brennan): The allocations of teaching staff in the second level vocational education committee sector are made by my Department on a committee-wide basis and the deployment of its teaching resources is a matter to be determined by the committee itself within the parameters of the authorised allocation. 223 In accordance with the programme agreed under section IV, paragraph 69 (e) of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, and which is being [223] implemented on a phased basis, County Meath vocational education committee will qualify in due course for an ex-quota allocation of 0.5 of a whole-time post for guidance on the basis of enrolments in St. Oliver's post-primary school, Oldcastle.
