42. Mr. Barry asked the Taoiseach the level of retail sales for the first three quarters of 1991 and for the corresponding periods for 1992; and the percentage difference in each case.

The Taoiseach: Statistics on retail sales are provided monthly in the form of index numbers to base 1980. The latest available figures relate to July of this year. The indices requested by the Deputy are contained in a statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report. Following is the statement:
