Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any proposals to encourage the establishment [1282] of an industrial investment trust which would take equity in IDA approved projects and which would be open to Irish investors, either through unit trusts and/or large scale institutional investors; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr. O'Malley): A broad outline proposal somewhat similar to the type referred to has been received by my Department. This is being examined at present in conjunction with the IDA. The outcome of that examination will determine whether or not the matter will be pursued further with the proposer.
