223. Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if she had any recent discussions with international airlines regarding flights in and out of Ireland; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications (Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn): Since my appointment, I have met with representatives from Aer Lingus, Ryanair, the newly formed Irish airline, Translift Airways, as well as Delta Airlines.

These meetings have enabled me to familiarise myself with the airlines' current operations to/from Ireland and to discuss with them their plans for the [1205] future development of air services to/from Ireland.
