Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to an incident which allegedly took place in Mountjoy Prison on or about Thursday, 5 March wherby a person (details supplied) was physically abused by prisoners in Mountjoy; whether he has investigated this matter; if he intends taking any action, and whether the results of [1165] his inquiries will be made available to Members of the Oireachtas. Minister for Justice (Mr. Flynn) Pádraig Flynn Minister for Justice (Mr. Flynn): The offender in question, along with three other prisoners, was involved in a fight in Mountjoy Prison at approximately 4 p.m. on Wednesday 4 March. The four prisoners concerned were quickly separated by prison staff and no serious injuries were sustained. The offender in question was transferred to the training unit on 6 March for his own safety.
