219. Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will now pay a farm building grant to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

220. Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for [374] Agriculture and Food if his Department will now pay a farm building grant to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo.

Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. Walsh): This grant is currently being processed and will be paid as soon as possible.

221. Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when headage payment grants will be made to farmers (details supplied); if his attention has been drawn to the hardship the delays in making these payments are causing; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. Walsh): The first named person's applications for grants under the 1991 suckler cow premium, special beef premium and cattle and equines headage schemes are being processed and if found in order payments will issue shortly.

Payment due to the second named person under the 1989 beef cow scheme is being processed and will issue shortly. Delay in payment in this case arose because the applicant did not reside in this country for part of the year and his eligibility had to be established before payment could be considered. There are no other cattle or sheep grants outstanding to him.

The third named person has been deemed ineligible for grants under the 1991 cattle and equine headage scheme because his application was not received until long after the closing date. He did not apply for grants under the 1991 special beef premium scheme.

There has been no inordinate delay in making payments in these cases.

222. Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of his ewe premium and sheep headage grants.

Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. Walsh): Payment of the first and second instalment of the 1991 ewe premium and the 1991 sheep headage grant will be paid [375] to the person named within the next three weeks. The third and final instalment of the 1991 ewe premium will be paid in March-April 1992 when the exact amount of that instalment is fixed by the EC Commission.
