Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Education if he will make a statement on the joint application from the boards of management of Garristown, The Naul and Ballyboughal national schools for a remedial teacher; and if, in view of the particular needs of the area, he will sanction this appointment on a shared basis as a matter of urgency. Brennan): As the Deputy will be aware, 80 additional remedial posts serving over 240 schools were allocated in June 1991 under arrangements under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. These appointments were made following the collection of data and information by my Department's primary inspectorate from schools. The posts were then allocated on the basis of priority of need, as indicated by the information collected by the inspectorate.
