400. Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education if he intends to sanction the appointment of a remedial teacher to a school (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Minister for Education (Mr. Davern): My Department are not in a position to sanction an additional post of remedial teacher outside of the approved staffing allocation for the City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee. It is open to the committee, however, to cater for the remedial needs of the pupils of the school in question within the authorised allocation of teachers.
