296. Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline (1) the total number and value of claims made against the motor insurers bureau in each of the last ten years and (2) the most prevalent causes of accidents generating these claims such as (a) uninsured cars (b) stolen cars (c) insured cars driven by uninsured persons and (d) any other dominant causes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for the Environment (Dr. O'Hanlon): Information relating to the number and value of claims made against the Motor Insurers Bureau of Ireland is published in the annual report of the bureau. Additional information is not available in my Department.
