87. Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the procedures which must be followed by vocational education committees when committees seek to purchase a building to be used at either second or third level; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Education (Mr. Davern): Vocational education committees require the approval of the Minister for Education for the purchase of property.

Prior to approval, such proposals involving capital expenditure are assessed by my Department in terms of suitability and value for money.
