Written Answers. - County Waterford National Renovation School.

49. Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the renovation of the old girls school section of Portlaw national school in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Education (Mr. Davern): The amalgamation of Portlaw boys and Portlaw girls national schools took place on 1 September 1991. A two class room extension has now been completed and improvement works are nearing completion in the building which housed the former boys school. An application has been made by the school authorities for improvement works to the building which housed the former girls school and a report has been requested on the matter from my Department's professional advisers. When this report is to hand it will receive full consideration in the context of the available capital and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities promptly.
