Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if the Canadian Government requested assistance in the search for Air-India Flight 182 which went down off the Irish Coast in June 1985. Brennan): There is no record of any formal request from the Canadian Government for assistance in the search for Air-India Flight 182 which went down off the Irish Coast in June 1985. However, since Ireland was the nearest country to the location of the accident, in accordance with normal international practice, search and rescue facilities were provided by the Naval Service and the Air Corps at the scene of the accident.
