153. Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of appointees to An Bord Pleanála; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Flynn): The membership of An Bord Pleanála comprises a chairman and five ordinary members all of whom serve in a whole time capacity. The present membership is as follows:

The chairman is appointed by the Government, and the ordinary members by the Minister for the Environment, in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1983. The deputy chairman is appointed by the Minister from among the ordinary members.
