82. Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education if she has received a request from a school (details supplied) in County Cork for the creation of the post of special/resource teacher; and if she will respond favourably to this request.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): I have received the request to which the Deputy refers.

Schools were notified recently that a number of additional remedial teachers posts, concessionary posts in schools in disadvantaged areas and posts in special education were being allocated arising out of the decision in the programme for economic and social development. My Department are at present considering these matters.

The needs of the school in question will be considered in this context.
