Written Answers. - Santry Woods (Dublin) Preservation.

68. Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Energy if any investigation has been carried out as to the possibility of the State purchasing Santry Woods, Dublin 9; his views on whether it is desirable to save the woods; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Energy (Mr. Molloy): The preservation of trees for amenity purposes is primarily a matter for the local authority and I understand the trees at Santry Woods are covered by a tree preservation order.

[2358] The possibility of acquiring Santry Woods has not been considered by my Department nor do I think it would be appropriate to do so.
