170. Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health the number of health boards who contract private dentists to carry out certain dental work on public patients in respect of (a) routine treatment, (b) orthodontic treatment and (c) dentures; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Health (Dr. O'Hanlon): I understand that all the health boards have arrangements with private dental practitioners to provide routine dental treatments including dentures while seven of the health boards avail of the services of private orthodontists to provide fixed appliance orthodontic treatments.
