Written Answers. - Public Right of Way Extinguishment.

133. Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the urgency of the housing scheme (details supplied) for Sheriff Street tenants he will waive the requirements for road closure set by his Department.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Flynn): I have no power to dispense with the statutory procedures for extinguishing a public right of way. My Department will process as quickly as possible any extinguishment application received from Dublin Corporation, subject to the requirement that an oral hearing will have to be held in the event of any objections to the proposed extinguishment.
