Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an application for a special beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. O'Kennedy) Michael O'Kennedy Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. O'Kennedy): I propose taking Questions Nos. 62 and 63 together. Payments to these applicants under the 1990 special beef premium scheme are being processed and will issue shortly. Mr. Sheehan Mr. Sheehan 64. Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason farmers whose herds were not read for the cattle headage scheme during 1990 were not advised that marked dockets would not suffice to make a claim under the special beef premium scheme as all other herd owners whose cattle were read were informed to get their animal cards punched before disposing of them to enable them to qualify for the special beef premium scheme. Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. O'Kennedy) Michael O'Kennedy 542 Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. O'Kennedy): During week ending 29 September 1990 an advertisement was placed in the national, farming and local [542] press advising all farmers to bring to the relevant local offices of my Department the cattle identity cards of any male cattle listed on their special beef primium scheme applications that they were going to sell so that those cards could be checked, punched and stamped before the cattle concerned were sold. The Deputy will appreciate, therefore, that all applicants, whether inspected or not, were advised in this way that they had to get their cards punched before their cattle were disposed of to enable those cattle to qualify for premium if they were otherwise eligible. Mr. Farrelly Mr. Farrelly 65. Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a beef cow subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. O'Kennedy) Michael O'Kennedy Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. O'Kennedy): Payments to this applicant under the 1990 suckler cow premium and special beef premium schemes are being processed and will issue shortly.
