Dáil Éireann - Volume 402 - 13 November, 1990

Written Answers. - Kilkenny All Irish School.

190. Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education when she will sanction a second level Irish school for Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): My Department is at present considering an application from County Kilkenny VEC for sanction to provide an all-Irish post-primary school, under the committee's aegis, in Kilkenny city, effective from September 1991. A full examination of the application is being carried out within my Department at present.

On a recent visit to Kilkenny I met a representative group regarding the application and had a very useful discussion and exchange of ideas on the matter.
