[1229] 187. Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Education if she will allocate financial resources for the provision of a gymnasium at Pobalscoil Neasáin, Baldoyle, Dublin 13, in the coming year; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): The provision of all post-primary accommodation is dependent on the availability of capital resources and on my Department's other commitments and priorities.

There are many proposals before my Department for the provision of new schools and extensions to provide urgently required classroom accommodation. Accordingly, in recent years it has been necessary to commit the available resources to addressing this most urgent need.

In the circumstances I am not in a position to indicate when funds will be available for the provision of a gymnasíum at Pobalscoil Neasáin, Baldoyle.
