332. Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Education when the appointment of a shared secretary for two schools (details supplied) in County Carlow will be confirmed in view of the fact that they have a total enrolment of 549 pupils and 19 staff.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): The two schools in question [256] have never had a secretarial post between them. Under the terms of my Department's scheme for the employment of clerk-typists in schools, it is not possible to approve the creation of any new posts.
