Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the reported talks between representatives of the four main political parties in Northern Ireland at the home of the United States Consul General in Belfast in April 1990; if he has received a briefing or any communication on the content of these talks from any of the participants; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Collins): I am aware of the occasion to which the Deputy refers. My understanding is that what was involved was a routine briefing of a visiting US official by representatives of a number of political parties in Northern Ireland.
