Dáil Éireann - Volume 396 - 13 March, 1990

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire (County Dublin) Garda Station.

78. Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has for the building of a new Garda station in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin; if a site has been identified for same; when work on the site is likely to commence, when the station will be ready; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Finance (Mr. A. Reynolds): It is proposed to provide a new Garda divisional headquarters in Dún Laoghaire to replace the existing station which is in poor condition and is inadequate to cater for the current [2263] policing needs in the area. Possible options for a new site for the proposed station are being considered.

Once a suitable site has been acquired, detailed design on the project can proceed with a view to having the scheme ready for invitation as soon as possible. It is too early to say when work might commence on site.
