[491] 133. Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he has received any proposals from University College, Cork, to ensure that it has a representative on the Southern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Health (Dr. O'Hanlon): I have not received any recent proposals from University College, Cork, regarding representation on the Southern Health Board. I am, however, aware of the college's interest in representation. In appointing representatives to health boards I am mindful of the need that local interests are represented. The question of appointing representatives from University College, Cork, can be considered when appointments next fall to be made to the Southern Health Board.
