O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice, in light of the recent High Court judgment that decisions on the release of persons found guilty of crimes but insane were an executive rather than a judicial function and the statement of the trial judge that the laws on criminal insanity should be examined by the Oireachtas as a matter of extreme urgency, the steps he is taking by way of response to the decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
