Mr. Quinn Mr. Quinn
60. Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he has received any proposals to grant technical or departmental approval for the proposed airport on Roundstone Bog, County Galway; if he has received any detailed analysis supporting the proposals; if he will make the information available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Minister for Tourism and Transport (Mr. S. Brennan) Seamus Brennan
Minister for Tourism and Transport (Mr. S. Brennan): Preliminary inquiries in relation to the licensing requirements have been received from the promoters of the proposed airport at Clifden. In relation to licensing the proposed airport, the site proposed is not yet at a stage of development where the issuance of a licence can be considered.
In relation to a detailed analysis of the proposed airport, the promoters have recently submitted an environmental impact study on the project to my Department which is being examined at present. I am sure that the promoters of the project would be prepared to make a copy of the study available on request to the Deputy.
