79. Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Energy if he has received an application from Crutt Mining Company to mine coal and shale in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Energy (Mr. Molloy): An application for a State mining lease, in respect of coal and fireclay has been received from Crutt Mining Company Limited, over an area in the townland of Crutt, County Kilkenny. The application is under active consideration but the environmental impact of the proposed operation requires to be studied further before a decision is made in the matter.
