267. Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister  for Education if she has considered the findings of the interdepartmental review group on the higher education grants scheme; and if the proposals have been accepted by the Government.

277. Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education when the Interdepartmental committee on the higher education grant scheme is to report if it is intended that the report will be debated in Dáil Éireann; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

336. Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education when she expects to announce proposals for changes in the higher education grant scheme as indicated by her in her speech on the Estimates for her Department.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): I propose to take Questions Nos. 267, 277 and 336 together.
I have under consideration at present the proposals of an interdepartmental group regarding the means assessment criteria for eligibility for third-level support as well as certain other possible changes in this area.
When decisions are taken on the issues involved I will make the appropriate announcement.
