28. Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for the Environment the number of local authority housing starts which will take place in 1989; the number which took place in each of the years from 1983 to 1988 inclusive; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Flynn): I would refer the Deputy to the reply to Questions Nos. 13, 20 and 120 of 26 October 1988 in relation to new [49] local authority dwellings commenced in each of the years 1983-88. The actual number of new starts in 1988 was 731. In relation to 1989, the projected number of new starts is about 900.
