19. Mr. Harte asked the Minister for Justice when it is proposed to restore the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) Bill, 1984; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Justice (Mr. Burke): The Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) Bill, 1984, which lapsed with the dissolution of the 24th Dail on 21 January 1987, contained proposals for changes in the area of judicial pensions. I have at present under consideration the question of introducing legislation in that area either by way of reintroduction of the 1984 Bill or otherwise. I am not yet in a position to announce what proposals I may have nor when the legislation is likely to be initiated.
