17. Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Justice if his examination of the proposals of the Law Society for the reconstitution of the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds as a public corporation is complete.

Minister for Justice (Mr. Burke): As I informed the House in reply to Dáil Question No. 112, on 7 November 1989, I am at present reviewing the operation of the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds with a view to improving the service to the public. Until such time as I have completed this review I will not be in a position to make any further statement on the Law Society's proposals.
