Written Answers. - Pension Reduction.
Mr. E. O'Keeffe Mr. E. O'Keeffe
 99. Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Energy the reason for the reduction in a pension in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Cork.
Minister for Energy (Mr. Molloy) Robert Molloy
Minister for Energy (Mr. Molloy): The person in question retired in 1983 on ill health grounds and was awarded a Forest Service pension.
Under the terms of the pension scheme, his Forest Service pension should have been reviewed on 17 September 1987 when, on reaching the age of 65, he was awarded a retirement pension from the Department of Social Welfare. Regrettably this review was overlooked. His Forest Service pension was reduced to the correct amount in January 1989, after the matter came to light. I have asked that procedures be tightened to avoid any possible similar overlaps of pensions in future.
