Dáil Éireann - Volume 388 - 14 March, 1989

Written Answers. - Blessington (County Wicklow) School.

133. Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Education if she will make a statement regarding the proposed new Blessington, Community College at Blessington, County Wicklow; in view of the urgent need for this school, if she will outline the present position; and if she will give a progress report as to when the development and construction of the school will take place.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): My Department has cleared the Bills of Quantities stage for a project by County Wicklow Vocational Education Committee to provide a school of 350 pupils at Blessington. The next stage in my Department's design procedure is the invitation of tenders. However, as the rate of advancement of all projects in planning is dependent on the availability of capital resources and on my Department's priorities and commitments, I am not in a position at present to indicate when construction work will commence.
