Minister for Tourism and Transport (Mr. Wilson): My Department are aware of the development of the concept of short take-off and landing airports and have kept in touch with the performance of such facilities elsewhere. The Department are not, however, in possession of any formal studies on the subject. I am aware that a major feasibility study to determine the economic, technical and aeronautical viability of establishing a short take-off and landing airport in the Dublin Port area is being undertaken at present by private interests.
