180. Mr. P. Minister for Communications (Mr. R. Burke) Raphael P. Burke
Minister for Communications (Mr. R. Burke): Section 8 (2) of the Radio and Television Act, 1988, empowers the Independent Radio and Television Commission to consider applications for the provision of low power sound broadcasting services in such institutions.
I am aware that services such as “Hospital Radio” currently exist. Any such services that are distributed on a closed circuit basis by wire do not require to be licensed.
