166. Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education in the case of all community schools in County Dublin (a) the projected enrolment for 1987-88 academic year (b) the actual enrolment as of 30 September, 1987 (c) the teacher allocation advised to the school prior to the academic year and (d) details of any alterations in teaching allocation arising from any diversions which may have occurred between the projected and the [2218] actual enrolment; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): It is not the practice of my Department to disclose information of the type requested by the Deputy as such information is regarded as being a confidential matter between my Department and the boards of management of the schools concerned.

167. Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education (a) the actual amount involved in the financial allocation advised to each community school in County Dublin for the calendar year of 1987; and (b) any supplementary allocation as advised subsequently; the reasons for same; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): The financial allocation, original and supplementary, where applicable, for each community school in County Dublin for the calendar year of 1987 is set out below in the tabular statement which is being circulated in the Official Report. Supplementary allocations are only made where a specific need has been identified in relation to a particular school and where my Department are satisfied that an additional amount is required to meet the situation. The particular reasons for making a supplementary allocation are primarily a matter between the board of management of a community school and my Department and I do not consider that it would be proper for me to list in detail the reasons for each supplementary allocation in the case of the schools concerned.
