166. Mr. McCreevy asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the granting of local authority status for Leixlip, County Kildare.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Flynn): An application for the establishment of town commissioners at Leixlip was received on 24 November 1987. This application is under examination in my Department and I hope to be in a position to give a decision shortly.
